Surge Anticipator Valves
Surge anticipator valves are pilot-controlled diaphragm valves that open on a pressure-rise transient and dump the surge to atmosphere or return line before it can build — protecting long pumping mains where a slow-closing check alone would leave the line exposed. Sizes run DN 50 to DN 600 at PN 10/16/25/40, with ductile iron, cast stainless steel or bronze bodies and covers, stainless steel or bronze trim (disc, seat, guide, stem, nut, spring), NBR/EPDM/HNBR seals and a nylon-reinforced EPDM diaphragm, EN 1074-5 / BS EN 1567 design, ISO 5208 / EN 12266-1 testing, EN 558-1 / ISO 5752 face-to-face, and EN 1092-2 / ISO 7005-2 / ANSI / JIS / AS 2129 flange drilling. Selection turns on the anticipated transient magnitude against the dump capacity, the pilot setting against normal line pressure, and the flange standard against the main.
