Gate Valves Β· Wedge Gate Valves
Double Disc Gate Valves
A double-disc gate execution to API 600 / ASME B16.34: two parallel discs are spread apart against both seat faces by a top wedge, so seating force is generated by the valve itself and survives pipeline loads that would distort a solid wedge. DN40 to DN800 in cast-iron, ductile-iron, carbon-steel and stainless bodies, PTFE or graphite packing, with a full PN10 dimension table to DN600.
Part of the Wedge Gate Valves family

Application & selection guidance
Pick the double-disc execution over a flexible wedge where seat tightness under external loading matters - waterworks, power plant and large-diameter isolation duty are the classic applications. Body, disc, top wedge, spring and gland materials are separately selectable per the 13-part build list on the page.
Frequently asked questions
How does a double-disc gate differ from a solid wedge gate?
Closing drives a top wedge between two parallel discs, pressing each outward onto its own seat face; sealing force comes from the valve mechanism rather than forced interference of one wedge, so tight shutoff holds even when pipeline loads distort the body. The page lists the full 13-part build including dispersing plug and high-intensity spring.
What sizes and materials are covered?
DN40 to DN800 with bodies in cast iron, ductile iron, carbon steel and stainless steel; discs, top wedges and springs in carbon steel, stainless steel or brass; PTFE or graphite packing. Design to API 600 and ASME B16.34, face-to-face to ASME B16.10, butt-weld dimension to ASME B16.25, testing to API 598.
Where is this execution the better pick?
Where positive double-seat shutoff matters more than installed height - the PN10 dimension table runs to DN600 with correspondingly tall bonnets. For steam and thermal-oil duty above these limits, the pressure-seal gate executions are the applicable family instead.
Ordering & documentation
Documents
Ask for the documentation set you need with the inquiry β typical items for this execution (material certificates, test reports to the listed inspection standard, dimensional drawings) are confirmed and supplied with the quotation.
Quotation
A quotation-ready inquiry states: nominal size and pressure rating, body and seat material preference, end connection, operation, and the service medium with temperature. Typical values on this page are benchmark reference ranges; the binding values are confirmed at quotation.
Sample & supply
Supply terms, order quantities and lead time are agreed per order β state the destination country and required schedule with the inquiry.
Storage & shipping
Store valves with seats and seals protected from UV, ozone and deformation, keep end-face protectors on until installation, and for elastomer- or PTFE-seated executions avoid prolonged outdoor storage β seat compounds age fastest in direct sunlight and freezing conditions.
