Needle Gauge Valves
Needle gauge valves isolate pressure instruments from the process, in three-port and block-and-bleed designs so gauges and transmitters can be removed or vented without shutting the line down. The range covers live-loaded stem packing seated under the thread zone, non-rotating stems, working pressure up to 6000 psig (413 bar) and temperatures from -73°C to 648°C, with bodies in 316 SS, Alloy 400 or Alloy C-276 and PTFE, PEEK or graphite packing. Selection turns on the block-and-bleed versus simple isolation choice for the media hazard, the packing material against line temperature, and the end-connection mix (NPT, socket weld, male pipe or manufacturer tube ends). Generic references add the working principle (a small port opened gradually by a tapered, threaded needle for fine control at low flow rates), finger-tight shutoff from the fine-thread stem, straight and angle flow patterns, a hardened non-rotating needle for leak-tight shutoff, packing temperature ceilings by material (about 232°C with PTFE, about 343°C with graphite packing on general-utility builds), bar-stock versus forged bodies, replaceable seats, and pump-governor damping duty.

Family specifications
| temperature range | -73°C to 648°C (-100 to 1200°F) |
|---|---|
| pressure class | up to 6000 psig (413 bar) |
| body materials | 316 SS, Alloy 400, Alloy C-276 |
| packing materials | PTFE, PEEK, Graphite |
| stem types | Non-rotating vee, Soft seal (PCTFE), regulating, metering |
| end connections | NPT, tube socket weld, pipe socket weld, male pipe, Duolok tube ends, Griplok tube ends, Unilok tube ends |
| working principle | Small port with a threaded, needle-shaped plunger; the tapered pin gradually opens the seat space for fine flow control |
| flow regulation character | Precise regulation of flow; generally only capable of relatively low flow rates |
| shut off effort | Shuts off completely with finger-tight stem pressure (fine-thread stem gives high mechanical advantage) |
| needle geometry | Long, tapered, needle-like point on the stem end acts as the disc; the stem needle passes through the seat orifice before seating |
| stem packing styles | O-ring with TFE backing rings, or TFE packing cylinder |
| body designs | Bar-stock body common; in globe-type builds a ball swivel on the stem provides rotation for seating without stem damage |
| replaceable seats | Often equipped with replaceable seats for ease of maintenance |
| pump governor application | Used on constant-pressure pump governors to damp discharge-pressure fluctuations |
| flow patterns | Straight and angle patterns |
| needle design | Hardened stainless steel non-rotating needle for leak-tight shutoff and long service life |
| packing temp limits | Up to 450°F (232°C) with PTFE packing; up to 650°F (343°C) with flexible-graphite packing |
| orifice size example | 0.31 in. (8.0 mm) orifice on a 3/4 in. general-utility execution |
| cv max example | Cv 1.2 maximum on the 3/4 in. general-utility execution |
| service scope | General-purpose service: isolate or vent system media |
Scope & source notes
| packing temperature ceiling | Packing temperature ceiling: the referenced general-utility execution tops out at 650°F (343°C) with graphite packing, while the tenant envelope reaches 648°C (1200°F) - the tenant upper band relies on higher-temperature series/executions not covered by the referenced page. |
|---|---|
| flow capacity framing | Flow-capacity framing: generic references describe needle valves as low-flow fine-metering devices, while the referenced OEM general-utility series is positioned for isolation/vent duty with Cv up to 1.2 - metering vs isolation scope depends on execution. |
| stem packing split | Stem-packing split: generic two-style framing (O-ring/TFE cylinder) vs the tenant PTFE/PEEK/graphite live-loaded packing list - the referenced executions are simpler than the tenant high-pressure build. |
| body design | Body design: bar-stock construction is cited as the common generic design, but the tenant range also covers forged-body executions for high pressure - both exist across the family. |
Ordering & documentation
Documents
Ask for the documentation set with the inquiry — typical items (material certificates, test reports to the listed inspection standard, dimensional drawings) are confirmed and supplied with the quotation.
Quotation
Send the medium, temperature, pressure, size and connection for a quotation-ready inquiry. Lead time, MOQ and price are confirmed at quotation, together with the documents to be supplied with the order.
Sample & supply
Supply terms, order quantities and lead time are agreed per order — state the destination country and required schedule with the inquiry.
Storage & shipping
Store valves with seats and seals protected from UV, ozone and deformation, and keep end-face protectors on until installation; storage limits and shipping arrangements for the selected materials are confirmed at quotation.
